Escalera’s venture into cubism ala “Escalera”. A tip of his hat to the US armed forces. Ironically, years later 3 of his grandchildren on his son Rudy Jr side, went on to have very successful careers in the United States Air Force. Why cubism you may ask? To Escalera it was simply another venture into uncharted waters, proving to himself that “he could do it”. This piece also deviated from his traditional use of the colors of the rainbow as he exclusively limited himself to the blue family, playing with different hues.
